Insurance FAQ

Liability insurance coverage protects you financially if you’re responsible for someone else’s injuries or property damage.

Renters insurance protects personal property from unexpected circumstances such as theft, fire, or sewer backup damage and will pay for lost or damaged possessions.

Most renters insurance policies will include liability insurance.

Your lease requires you to purchase renters insurance.  ICM Properties, Inc. does not cover your personal property.  Purchasing renters insurance is the best way to protect yourself when renting an apartment.  Proof of insurance is required prior to key pick-up.

Your lease requires you to obtain both liability (of at least $100,000) and renters insurance.

Most renters insurance policies will include liability insurance.

A “Back-up Sewer and Drain Endorsement for Personal Property” should be added to any insurance policy for any apartment that goes below ground, such as a “garden” or “duplex down” apartment.

To find a plan to suit your needs best, we suggest your search plans through Google.

If you do not provide proof of insurance, you will be enrolled in a liability to landlord policy (LLIP).

This LLIP does not cover a resident’s personal belongings.

Refer to your lease for the most up-to-date LLIP pricing.

If you are auto-enrolled, you have liability coverage only, so it does not cover your belongings.

AppFolio does have renters insurance available (FolioGuard). FolioGuard will cover your belongings, but residents must opt-in.

To opt-in, email processing@icmproperties.com.

Unless your roommates’ names are listed on your policy, they are not covered under your renters insurance.

If you obtained your own renters insurance and the policy includes liability of at least $100,000, you no longer need to be enrolled in the LLIP.

To unenroll, upload your insurance documents to your AppFolio portal. Once complete, please email processing@icmproperties.com to ensure you are unenrolled from the LLIP.

ICM is not an insurance provider. Please get in touch with your licensed insurance representative with any questions about your policy.
